Dollhouses feature in museum’s summer exhibition

July 7th, 2012

When you walk round a museum or art gallery, do you ever wonder about all the items and artworks that you never get to see?  At the Massillon Museum in Ohio, they’re staging a summer exhibition which aims to put on display some of the more unusual and never-seen-before artifacts in its vast collection.

Entitled ‘The Odditorium’, the exhibition consists of six elaborate rooms belonging to an eccentric and fictitious family.

Speaking to the CantonRep.com website, Jill Malusky, the Museum’s education director, said, “I’ve been telling kids (on school tours) that it’s like a giant dollhouse in the gallery.”  It’s a theme which is echoed in an education area within the exhibition where dollhouses are filled with miniature oddities from the Museum’s collection.

If you live near the Massillon area, why not pay a visit to this unusual exhibition and share your experiences with us on the DHE blog.
