Oversized dollhouses make great playhouses

July 29th, 2012

A fascinating article on the Forbes website features some of the most stylish and imaginative playrooms you’re likely to see, including one which has a pirate boat suspended from the ceiling that can only be reached by a rope walkway.

As outlandish as that designer playroom might sound, others take a more traditional approach and dollhouses figure prominently in the ones for girls.

The aptly named ‘Princess Pad’ in California features a playhouse in the shape of an oversized dollhouse.

There’s also a dollhouse in a Wisconsin play attic which, with its own hand-crafted tree and ceiling mural that resembles the sky, is described as “the stuff of storybooks and Mary Poppins”.

All very wonderful but on a practical level, let’s hope that the kids in these designer rooms can click their fingers to tidy them, just like Mary Poppins could.
