Spiders add finishing touch to dollhouse
August 9th, 2012Brae Oktober, who writes a blog under the name of Otterine, is passionate about making her miniature creations as realistic as possible, even down to welcoming the handiwork of spiders.
Writing about her award winning Baslow Ranch dollhouse, she observes:
“I knew when I finished Baslow Ranch that if I just left it to dust and time, it would become more realistic with age. In addition to the light coating of dust from the past two years, the barn has apparently attracted the attention of small spiders — as barns are apt to do. There is a fine covering of webs inside the top of the barn by the lights.”
The reaction of most people would be to reach for the duster but not Brae:
“I suppose someday I’ll have to dust the house and remove the webs when they become overwhelming, but not yet.”
